2021 SCCA Board of Directors Election Results Announced

Results are in for the SCCA Board of Directors (BoD) elections conducted in five of SCCA’s geographic Areas. Three new board members were selected, and two incumbents rejoin the board for another three-year term in office.

KJ Christopher, of Rowlett, Texas, will become Area 7 Director as current BoD member Dan Helman, has termed out. Clay Turner, of Colorado Springs, CO, claims the Area 8 Director position as Arnie Coleman concludes his final term. In Area 1, Peter Schneider, from Long Valley, NJ, ran unopposed and will take the BoD seat Bob Dowie vacates as he terms out. Area 5 Director Peter Jankovskis of Lisle, IL, retains his seat, as does Area 13 Director Jeff Zurschmeide, of Tillamook, OR.

In addition, current Area 11 Director Jason Isley has resigned his position following a move to a different SCCA area. During Wednesday’s (11/17) Board of Director meeting, the current board, as per SCCA Bylaws, selected 17-year-member Dale Shoemaker, of Henderson, Nevada, to complete the current term.

AREA 1

Encompasses the Northeast Division, including the New England, New York and Northern New Jersey Regions.

Peter Schneider — Unopposed

AREA 5

Encompasses the Central Division, including Badlands, Blackhawk Valley, Central Illinois, Chicago, Great River, Iowa, Lake Superior, Land O’Lakes and Milwaukee Regions.

Peter Jankovskis (Incumbent) — Unopposed

AREA 7

Encompasses the Southwest Division, and the following Regions: Central Louisiana, Delta, Houston, Lone Star, Red River, South Texas Border, Southwest Louisiana, Texas and West Texas.

KJ Christopher — 130 votes
Larry Svaton — 96 votes
Cathy Barnard — 68 votes

AREA 8

Encompasses the Rocky Mountain Division including the Colorado, Continental Divide, Eastern Idaho, Pan American, Rio Grande, Utah, and Yellowstone Regions.

Clay Turner — 129 votes
Paul Brown — 37 votes

AREA 13

Encompasses part of the Northern Pacific Division, including Arctic Alaska, Big Sky, Montana, Northwest, Oregon, Snake River and Southwest Montana Regions.

Jeff Zurschmeide (Incumbent) — Unopposed

Election ballots were reviewed by Mize CPAs Inc. The current board is set to have one more meeting in December, with new BoD members officially taking their seats January 1, 2022.
