’22 Hallett Hoosier Super Tour: At A Glance

’22 Hallett Hoosier Super Tour: At A Glance

The Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour begins the second half of its 10-event schedule for 2022 at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (HMRC). The April 23-24, 2022, event in Jennings, OK, is far beyond “OK” – it’s downright incredible thanks to the work of Ark Valley Race Group.

Hoosier Super Tour venues include circuits with decades of history and a record book featuring the biggest names in all of motorsports. Other sites are top “pro” tracks offering the best quality racing surface and amenities. And a few tracks are on the Hoosier Super Tour schedule because they’re the best “Club” courses in the country, where challenging layouts are matched with warm hospitality and a family feel to the paddock. For all the best reasons, Hallett falls within that last category.

For many drivers and families, racing HMRC is a “must” each year. It’s visiting friends, having good times, and developing great memories. Glen Miller’s “In the Mood” – clucked out by Ray Stevens & The Henhouse Five Plus Two – is a raucous anthem played through the track’s PA system each competition morning. It serves as a call to arms for some, a recess bell for others, or a reminder that a delicious breakfast is awaiting at the track café.

The Hallett Hoosier Super Tour Playground

Hallett’s 1.8-mile, 10-turn track nestled in the rolling Osage Hills of Northeastern Oklahoma will again be run counterclockwise for the Hoosier Super Tour visit. A two-day event, action erupts at 8 a.m. CDT with 20-minute qualifying for each of seven competition groups. Wheel-to-wheel battles then begins at 12:20 p.m. with 25-minute battles for each of the seven race groups.

The ever-popular, well-attended All Participant Dinner will again take place Saturday evening. Sunday morning sees a second round of 15-minute qualifying for everyone, followed by 35-minute or 27-laps races for all race groups.

SCHEDULE

Hallett’s Hoosier Super Tour Drivers

While Hallett is a venue filled with comradery, make no mistake that there’s serious competition ahead during the Hoosier Super Tour weekend. Take, for instance, the 25-car Spec Miata (SM) class. There, you’ll find Travis Wiley, who won both SM races at last year’s Hallett Hoosier Super Tour.

The 26-car Spec Racer Ford Gen3 (SRF3) class also includes Grayson Strathman. An HMRC expert, Strathman took one SRF3 win at last year’s Hoosier Super Tour and has established a well-documented history of winning the class at Hallett over the years.

GT-2 has a healthy field with 10 cars. One to watch there is the Dodge Viper of Mark Kirby. He swept the GT-2 weekend at last year’s HMRC Hoosier Super Tour, taking wins on both Saturday and Sunday. And in the competitive nine-car Super Touring Lite (STL) field you’ll find Joe Smith and Stephen Johnson, winners of the last two STL Hoosier Super Tour races at Hallett.

If it’s a Hoosier Super Tour, you can bet Runoffs champions will be on hand, and HMRC is no different as reigning E Production National Champion Jesse Prather will be competing, as well as reigning F Production National Champion Cliff Ira. And for fun, be sure to catch the GTX class at Hallett, with nifty machines such as a Maserati Trofeo GT4 and a Ginetta G55 GT4 scheduled to be on track.
