At A Glance: '20 COTA Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

Hoosier Super Tour Round 2 at COTA – The second of ten Hoosier Super Tour race weekends takes place this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9, at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. Hosted by SCCA’s Lone Star Region, competitors from around the country will battle it out on the 3.41-mile, 20-turn circuit currently home to the Formula One United States Grand Prix. Incidentally, F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton has twice clinched the World Driving Championship at COTA. So, having the opportunity to win a race at the same venue is a “big deal” for a lot of racers.

What to Watch — With more than 260 entries, there will be lots to keep an eye on during this weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour at COTA. As always, be sure to watch the Spec Racer Ford Gen3 and Spec Miata races, each featuring 40 vehicles a piece. Thirteen is then the lucky number of entries for B-Spec, Formula Atlantic, GT-2, Touring 2 and the new Formula X class. Super Touring® Lite should be entertaining, too, with its 17-car field.

Spectators Welcome at COTA – Entry is FREE this weekend to Circuit of the Americas for those who want to watch Hoosier Super Tour action in person. Temperatures are forecasted to be in the upper 60s, low 70s — which isn’t too bad for a “winter” weekend. Those who can’t get to the track can follow along online with live static cameras and Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire at www.scca.com/live.

Thank You, Volunteers — Approximately 130 SCCA members have volunteered to come out this weekend and facilitate activities at COTA. SCCA is a membership organization and, as such, relies on volunteers to put on events such as this weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour. These people organize, register, score, officiate and work flag stations during race weekends. No event is possible without the help of selfless volunteers, so a great deal of “thanks” goes out to these people who come from all walks of life. To learn how to get involved trackside with Sports Car Club of America®, visit www.SCCA.com or the Lone Star Region volunteer webpage.
