SCCA RoadRallys are afternoon drives – with dedicated purpose – on public roads through gorgeous environs. A RoadRally is a combination of logic puzzle, scavenger hunt, and intentional (and very specific) cruising. In short, an SCCA RoadRally is one of the most enjoyable and challenging ways to spend a day – and there are numerous days coming up that you won’t want to miss.
The most accessible form of automotive competition, RoadRally is an activity that has just about 75 years of history with the Club. Best of all, no special licenses or equipment are required. Just stay on route and on time, and don’t lose focus. Easy, right?
You and your spouse, family member, neighbor, co-worker, or whomever, are all invited. So learn more about RoadRally, then considering entering an event – like the ones listed below.
What follows is a list of Divisional and National RoadRallys scheduled for late summer and early fall. Participants at these events earn points used to decide RoadRally champions at year’s end. The schedule continues to evolve, with events added across the country, but here’s the current list of events:
Aug. 13, 2022: Moonlight Monte Divisional Tour Rally; Detroit Region; Chelsea, MI
Sept. 2, 2022: Tulips by Night Divisional Tour Rally; St. Louis Region; Collinsville, IL
Sept. 3, 2022: Kaskaskia Trails National Tour Rally; St. Louis Region; Collinsville, IL
Sept. 4, 2022: The Avenue of the Saints Divisional GTA Rally; St. Louis Region; Collinsville, IL
Sept. 10, 2022 : Press On Regardless Divisional Tour Rally; Detroit Region; Gaylord, MI
Sept. 10, 2022 : Hurdle 2022 National GTA Rally; New England Region; Southington, CT
Sept. 17, 2022: Oktoberally National Course Rally; Milwaukee Region; Richland Center, WI
Sept. 18, 2022: Badger Coulees National Tour Rally; Milwaukee Region; Richland Center, WI
Sept. 25, 2022: South Jersey Region Fall Divisional Tour Rally; South Jersey Region; Vineland, NJ
The “regular season” Divisional and National RoadRally events listed above lead to the 27th United States RoadRally Challenge, taking place Nov. 4-6, 2022, and is hosted this year by SCCA’s Detroit Region. The three-day event consists of three different rallies in two distinct categories. There will be two Tour rallies and one Course rally. More information on each style of RoadRally can be found through the link below.
The schedule for the 27th United States RoadRally Challenge is as follows:
Nov. 4, 2022: Hell and Back II National Tour Rally; Detroit Region; Whitmore Lake, MI
Nov. 5, 2022: Are You Territorial? National Course Rally; Detroit Region; Whitmore Lake, MI
Nov. 6, 2022: Pavement Ends Divisional Tour Rally; Detroit Region; Whitmore Lake, MI
RoadRally points champions are determined by the accumulation of points, awarded based on finishing position in a RoadRally versus the score earned. Divisional RoadRallys count as one event while National RoadRallys count as two events, mainly because they are traditionally a little trickier (which adds to the fun). Rallyists may count the best 10 of their first 14 “events” entered in each series (Course, Tour, and GTA), and may accrue a maximum of 100 points in each of those series.
