SCCA Foundation Runoffs Sweepstakes Winner Named

SCCA Foundation Runoffs Sweepstakes Winner Named

George Rogge is the worthy recipient of the SCCA Foundation “Indy Insider’s Weekend.” Rogge was one of 135 donors who participated in the sweepstakes fundraiser, with the SCCA Lifetime member’s winning ticket number pulled from the more than a thousand tickets issued.

Rogge, a former RE of the Indiana Northwest Region, will have an easy travel weekend to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to view this year’s SCCA National Championship Runoffs in style, complete with behind-the-scenes tours of the track, the IMS Museum, and the event itself. The Merrillville, Indiana resident has a long SCCA history, with his father being the founder of the Sports Car Club of Indiana in the 1950s.

As part of the prize, Rogge wins a chance to stand in the IMS start stand above the row of bricks for the start of a race, a meet and greet with IMS president and former Formula F racer Doug Boles, a VIP tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Basement Collection, a tour of the Foyt Indy-based pro race shop, and breakfast at the famous Charlie Brown’s Pancake & Steak House, among other fantastic prizes.

Rogge notes that he attended every Formula One race at IMS. He has a special appreciation for the historic importance of the track. “The Pace Car Ride, flag stand, and photo op at the yard of bricks are all exciting,” explained Rogge. “I will be driving to the track in my 1998 Corvette pace car, track car #44.”

He was also awarded $2,500 in cash for travel expenses, which he generously plans to donate back to the SCCA Foundation to support its programs.

“As reflected by his long history with the SCCA, George has given generously to the Club,” noted SCCA Foundation Chairman Jeff Jacobs. “His decision to gift the cash prize back to the Foundation on top of the donation he already made as part of the Sweepstakes will substantially help our programs through the remainder of 2021 and into 2022.”

Rogge and his guest will be able to watch the races from the SCCA Member Advantage suite overlooking pit lane. SCCA members who aren’t George Rogge will be able to purchase tickets to the suite during the event – details can be found here.

Proceeds from the sweepstakes fundraisers directly support the Foundation’s programs, including Diversity and Veterans in Motorsports and SCCA’s Archives Collection. While the sweepstakes has ended, it’s not too late to donate to the 501(c)3 SCCA Foundation. Find out how to donate here.

And, of course, those who were waiting to find out if they won the sweepstakes don’t have to miss the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, with Hagerty Race Days Oct. 1-3. Tickets can be purchased here.
