September 1, 2020
Beginning at noon Central Time on Sept. 1, reservations will be accepted for single-car paddock spaces at the 2020 SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® taking place Oct. 3-11 at Road America. Paddock requests can be made at MotorsportReg.com, and competitors must be registered for the event before selecting a spot utilizing the online map. Drivers not registered for the event will not be able to access the map, and please note the price per paddock spot varies depending upon location.
Those interested in competing at this year’s Runoffs should also note that Friday, Sept. 4 is the final day for early registration. After that, the price per entry will increase. Runoffs Worker and Driver registration can be accessed at MotorsportReg.com. Drivers need not have fulfilled Runoffs qualification criteria at time of registration. But prior to registration, competitors are advised to log into their MotorsportReg account to make sure SCCA member numbers, license expiration date and vehicle profile information are all current in the system. This will save time and reduce frustration during the actual registration process.
For competitors, Test Days reservations can be made during the Driver Registration process. A limited number of slots are open each of the Test Days, Oct. 3-5, and available on a first-booked, first-reserved basis. Please note that more information is now available regarding Supplemental Regulations and the recently revised Runoffs Qualifying/Race Schedule at the 2020 Runoffs event webpage.
As for tent camping, workers and drivers can request a camping pass during the registration process by simply checking a box during general registration. Spaces will not be assigned until arrival on site for the Runoffs. Participants may sleep in their marked paddock area at no charge. Road America also offers reserved RV camping spots with and without electricity, as well as cabin rentals. More information on reserved RV spaces can be found at https://www.roadamerica.com/camping.
The National Championship Runoffs, which caps the Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing program each year, has evolved into what is now commonly agreed to be the pinnacle of American motorsports. Since 1964, SCCA has crowned champions through the winner-take-all, single race Runoffs format conducted over three days. This year, the 57th annual SCCA Runoffs will see winners crowned across 26 different car classes.
Of course, there will be a lot more going on at the 57th Runoffs. Track walk/ride sessions are tentatively planned for late afternoon on Sunday, Oct. 4 and Monday, Oct. 5. Additional information about dinners, Tire Rack Pole Awards, the Worker of the Year presented by Mazda celebration and other activities will be announced at a later date.
