On May Fourth, Neohio SCCA celebrated the start of our 2024 Time Trial season at Nelson Ledges Road Course, hosting an event that surpassed all expectations. Despite a daunting forecast of cold and wet conditions, the weather turned out much better, encouraging a spirited turnout of 32 drivers. This event marked the second in the thrilling OPTT Challenge series, adding an extra layer of competition and excitement.
We congratulate Devan Keeling, who clinched the fastest lap of the day, setting a high benchmark for competitors. The event was a test of speed and endurance against the elements, and all participants displayed commendable skill and determination.
The day’s highlight was the smashing of four class track records, an impressive feat given the less-than-ideal weather predictions that had dissuaded some from attending. The new records are as follows:
T1 Class: Derek Meinke set a blistering pace with a lap time of 1:13.267.
M2 Class: Ian Creps showed remarkable agility, clocking in at 1:10.438.
S1 Class: Jacob Glover was close behind with a time of 1:10.670.
T5 Class: Ryan Carwille rounded out the record-breaking performances with a time of 1:17.111.
