Chuck was a racer, race car owner, Porsche collector, as well as the founder and owner Stoddard Imported Cars in Willoughby, an Alfa and Porsche dealership. He started racing around 1955 and raced extensively until 1965 when he retired from active racing. However, he continued racing in vintage races until 2000. His early racing was at Put in Bay and Akron Airport sports car races, and later competed in SCCA national races atMidwest and east coast tracks. He primarily raced Alfa Romeos and Porsches. Chuck Stoddard won an SCCA Central Division championship in 1964 and national championships in 1959, 1961 and 1965. Chuck also raced professionally in USRRC sports car endurance events such as the Road America 500, Sebring 12 Hour and the United States Road Racing Championship.
